Stagecoach State Park will temporarily close the main boat ramp for extension work amid low water levels

OAK CREEK, Colo. — Stagecoach State Park will temporarily close the reservoir's main boat ramp next week for construction aimed at extending the ramp and lengthening the summer boating season.

The main boat ramp will close Wednesday, Aug. 19 through Wednesday, Aug. 26. Park staff cautioned that the timeline remains fluid and project schedules could change depending on the progress of the construction.

To accommodate boaters during the weeklong closure, the park will temporarily extend the hours of operation for the Morrison Cove Boat Ramp on the southeast side of the reservoir. The Morrison Cove ramp will operate from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Park staff also warn that dropping reservoir levels have exposed unknown underwater hazards at the end of all boat ramps, and visitors are advised that they launch at their own risk.

"We will continue to monitor water levels and will keep the boat ramps open as long as possible," said Stagecoach State Park Manager Craig Preston. "Our current prediction is that even with the extension, we will likely close to boating shortly after Labor Day.”
