Todd Starr resigns as Mesa County attorney

Todd Starr has resigned as Mesa County attorney after serving in the position since August 2021.

“We thank Todd for his service to Mesa County and wish him well,” the Board of Mesa County Commissioners said in a joint statement.

First Assistant County Attorney Stephanie Rubinstein will serve as acting county attorney while the Board of Mesa County Commissioners conducts the recruitment process. The position will be posted, and the Board will appoint and hire the next county attorney in accordance with Colorado law.

Rubinstein and the County Attorney’s Office will continue providing legal counsel to the Board and county staff and managing pending matters during the transition.

“It has been a distinct honor to serve in this capacity,” Starr said in his resignation letter. “I depart with the utmost confidence that the County Attorney’s Office will continue to provide the Board with the highest standard of service while safeguarding taxpayer resources.”

Additional information about the position and application process will be shared when the job posting is available.
